Sometimes in order to fix a problem, we need to change the way we look at it. Instead of thinking, “My house has no storage” maybe say, “My house does have enough storage, I just need to find it.” No matter how much storage you do or don’t have. If you look at your problem from a different angle your brain may come up with new solutions to your problem.
Is your storage filled with things you don’t use or need? This can be as big as a closet or as small as a drawer. I challenge you to pick one storage area and declutter 3 things out of it. If that motivates you to do more, great. Pick another area and declutter 3 more things or continue in the first storage space. If you don’t want to do more, don’t worry. You now have 3 fewer things to worry about.
I decluttered 4 boxes of empty DVD cases. My husband wanted to keep them just in case, and I respected his wishes. Recently we came to a compromise. For any movie we know we love and want to keep forever we recycle the case. Movie’s we don’t love got put in their case and donated. Ahh, now we have more space in our garage.
I’d love to hear back about this challenge. What did you declutter? How did it go? Were you able to find more storage in your house?
