It’s so frustrating when you don’t have a functional pantry. When my client moved in things kind of got tossed into this pantry. This totally happens, but she wanted it to be more efficient and organized. She also had some boxes that still needed to be unpacked. So we emptied everything, including the organizing containers so that it’s a fresh canvas.
When our brain sees any part of the old way it wants to fit things into that same mold. If you start fresh then it’s easier for your brain to come up with the best way because it’s not constrained by old ideas.
To increase the functionality we put items into categories like breakfast items, snacks, pasta, cans, etc. Then put each category where it made the most sense based on who needed access to it and how often things were used.
