In this digital age where everyone has many devices of all kinds, there needs to be a good way to organize Chromebooks. We have 5 Chromebooks in our house that need to be charged each night. Three of those need to go to school each day with their cords.
We have a surge protector and I used reusable fastening tape to keep the cords wound up. (You can use zip ties, rubber bands, reusable fastening cable ties, silicone cable ties, or long cable fastening tape.) I have the long fastening tape so that I can customize the length that I need. This worked for a while, but it still took up a ton of space.
I’d been frustrated about it until I visited a friend and saw how they had used a simple mesh desk organizer from Walmart with sliding trays and an upright section to hold their devices. Perfect! They could plug in Chromebooks in the trays and set kid’s tablets in the upright sections.
It didn’t quite work for our needs, but it got me thinking. Why not use a large mesh file holder or a pot and pan organizer rack. I found one at our Goodwill for $4. It is strong and large enough to hold our devices. I also labeled every charger and assigned each person a slot. Now there is no confusion about where everything goes. It’s not perfect because I can’t hide all the cords because my kids need to take them to school every day, but it’s SO much better.
The solution is so simple that I wonder why I didn’t think about it at first, but I’m happy to pass along this info in case it helps other people. How do you organize Chromebooks? You can read more about office organization at Organizing Your Home Office and Papers.
